Carpet Cleaning Methods - what is really important

If you have dirty carpet, the bottom line is that you want to clean a carpet, regardless of how it is cleaned. As professionals in carpet cleaning, often caught in the cleaning method and not just focusing on the needs of the customer who CARPET clean.

When I started in this business 15 years ago I started a small machine that fit into the back of a Ford Ranger pickup truck. And I cleaned the carpet. The unit has not been spectacular, butI have a very good job, and my business has grown. I upgraded appliances and all the time, and the results were the same for my customers, clean the carpet.

It seems that the biggest factor in getting a carpet cleaner and carpet cleaning person, not using the equipment.

But, for some questions to rest, here is some information on the two basic types of carpet cleaning, both do a good job and are based on the same concepts. Let me explain both fast, so I will not bother withtechnical details.

For a hot extraction method of cleaning water # 1 Portable Carpet Cleaning Unit

That's un-self contained cleaning unit that has a water pump and a vacuum cleaner. Usually the operator pre-vacuum the carpet and move furniture before cleaning. Then the carpet is pre-sprayed with cleaning to loosen embedded dirt and stains. Finally, use warm water to rinse the carpet, and washing. Some portable units (such asus) with a tank to help clean.

This method is not as powerful as a truck mounted unit, but excellent cleaning results with this system. Over the years we have adapted our equipment for better performance. Often the engineer is the difference, because someone will be doing a thorough job so sloppy using a truck mounted system.

Hot water extraction cleaning method # 2 Truck Mount Carpet Cleaning Unit

A truck-mountedunit is simply that a carpet cleaner mounted on a truck. What's the big deal you ask? Well, not so many carpet cleaners would have you believe. The end result is clean carpets for you, but many of the advantages of using a truck mounted unit customers have more to do with the operator rather than the final result. Again, many carpet cleaners do not agree with me, but it is the coach who makes cleaning that makes the difference.

In general, a truck-mountedsystem is powerful, that we use has an incredible amount of energy and heat, to wash the dirt off as a portable system. We can provide jobs to clean more in one day with a truck-mounted system that can, with a portable system. Yes, it has many great advantages for us as carpet cleaners in terms of production.

Well, that's it. Are you really interested? Probably not. You just want a clean carpet. We can provide as a final result, any system whichuse, the biggest new factor, the person doing the work. This is what makes the difference.

Large storage bins, plastic bins small size (more than 20 formats available on the Internet) can be used in a group because of the versatility of this object.

These containers can also be used as a stackable plastic storage bins. The design is the same size boxes are stacked on each other, while the opening at the front means you have access to all binseven when stacked. If you plan on stacking your containers are more stable versions with larger holes stacked hand. For the ability to quickly evaluate how many parts are still in the clear box, plastic storage bins are also available.

plastic storage bins are made to be used in dirty environments. Because of being plastic does not rust, are resistant to weak acids, and the ribs in their many projects are super strong.

If youput a spare wall in the workplace should not attach a louvered panel bench may also put out a small amount of panel that bolts to your bank. Reasons to use a laptop Closet

During my years of life on the go, I knew what a collector of things I'm doing. This applies especially for clothing and shoes. Maybe because I travel a lot and clothing for the job is clearly distinct from a stay-at-home clothes. Whatever the reason, I do not have nearly enough closet space in my house. So, what's a girl to do? My budget is always the first consideration when looking for a problem. I do not have the resources to buildnew cabinets. I funds for the purchase of a portable unit or two units.

The first thing I decided to do was to find a written plan for what type of clothing goes where. Since I have the most professional clothes, I decided that the closet all by himself. I then find out how many clothes every day I deal with, and I based on the size of the handset is needed in this figure. I made some phone calls to variousSociety for the comparison of unit prices. Once I found the best deal, it was a simple matter of going into town and buy. When I arrived, I found a greater variety of mobile devices than I thought there would be. I did not really like vinyl. Seem excruciating, like a sore thumb. There were several construction units needed, so I opted for the less difficult, it seemed. I was a bit 'nervous about puttingtogether, but I wanted something on wheels and that seemed to "fit" with other furniture in the bedroom.

Well, I learned a lot from the illusion of innate abilities that I possess. Laughter. Deciphering visual diagrams is not my forte. I did however manage to get the tea machine was built after a few hours and many cups strong. In fact, I have a good job that I decided to buy another device to the guest room. L 'last problem area I have to do with regard to many shoes I own. While under construction, I noticed that they have different styles of door and cabinet portable storage portable products, such as storage bags that fit inside the cabinet. I found a pair of shoes specifically for this, I think, will work well for my problem.

Portable solar panels - energy cost for campers

If you own a motorhome, you can find mobile solar panels on hand for long family outings. RVs are perfect for travel throughout the country. But most people also want to bring their electric appliances such as television, radio, iPods, laptops, etc. with their Playstation. Clicking on a path, find an electrical outlet can be a challenge.

Not all electrical equipment is capable of using solar cells. One reason is the lack of capacity withholdingsolar panel.

The energy from the PV cells will depend on the sun Some equipment has a power level of tolerance, while others do not.

For example, a heater in a camper to be connected to the solar system. Resistances do not care how the force looks like. It can vary, the voltages and currents can change and there may be plenty of ripples.

What we want is the end result is the amount of heat generated is possible. You can scroll through peaks and valleys, but the engine warmsultimately from the oven.

This is a similar case with fans on an RV. You can use a fan to a portable solar panel. However, when it is exposed to more sun, faster.

Again, what we want is the end result is a fresh breeze. No matter how difficult or weak pushes the fan.

A portable solar energy is not completely efficient, but is a convenient source of energy for some electrical appliances in stainless steel. If your power, you cana solar panel connected to an inverter.

Not all devices working properly. The only way to find out is to hook the system and turn it on.

Soft Sided Carport Kits Could Be Your Answer to Quick and Portable Storage

There are a lot of different types of carport kits on the market today, ranging from metal to soft, full sided with doors to just an overhead canopy or metal carport with no sides. But one of the easiest and quickest to assemble, and to move around as needed, is a soft sided carport. There are a handful of companies that make this style of carport kits, each a little different from the others. Lets take a look at each at three of these companies and what they have to offer.

The Jewett-Cameron Companies are manufacturers of diverse items under various different brands. Their carport kits are branded Storage Solutions. All that I have seen are soft sided, mostly domed shaped though they do have a few peak shaped shelters as well. They offer them in a variety of sizes, good for protecting your motorcycle, car or RV. Or use one for temporary or permanent storage. Jewett-Cameron uses only professional grade materials, making extremely durable carports. The framing is galvanized steel with Quick Connect assembly. The soft cover is made from triple-layer, UV protected polyethylene. The dome style comes with three piece construction which make for fast assembly and easy maintenance. One thing that this company boasts is that, with their "Zip Away" door, they are the leader in the industry for offering maximum clearance, which can be very important for RV's.

King Canopy has been around since 1940, and makes a large line of canopies, from small instant ones to use in your yard, to large outdoor gatherings canopy tents, to ones designed to protect your vehicle. Many of these larger carport kits are soft top with optional or removable sides. All that I saw had a peak shape, use steel framing with a white UV treated polyethylene cover. These come large enough for a standard automobile, but not for an RV. These are great for short term, temporary shelters.

Rhino Shelters specializes in all types of outdoor soft-sided shelters, including carport kits, large buildings, party tents and greenhouses. In their carports alone, you can get one, two or three car garages, some that are extended so that they can be used to store a car with extra room at the back for other storage needs, or extra big so it can also serve as a workshop, and they also make ones tall enough for RV storage. Two main styles they offer are what they called "House" style and "Barn" style. The barn style is domed shape, and the house style peaks at the top. Like the others, they use heavy duty, galvanized, steel framing. The pre-drilled and cut frames bolt easily together for quick assembly. All four corners come with wind brace supports. The soft cover is made of a 10 oz. poly material that, besides being UV protected, also has been treated with fire retardant. Usually you get a choice of gray or green, though this can vary with the exact product your choose. Rhino claims that most of their carport kits can be assembled in a couple of hours.

All of these carport kits are great for keeping dust and debris off of your expensive vehicles and equipment. They also help keep them out of the elements. After all, something like an RV is a sizable investment, and one that you want to keep in the best condition possible. So, first decide what you need to protect and why, then take a look at these three companies to find which carport kits will work best for you.

Shed Designs - How To Build A Storage Shed You Will Be Proud Of

Many people wonder how they can build their own shed. With all of the shed designs and instructions available today, it's really quite easy! Here you will learn a little about the basics of building a shed, and find out about some of the shed designs that are available for you to choose from.

Some people try to go to their local home improvement or hardware store, buy a few tools, some lumber and begin to build their own shed. This is NOT the proper procedure, if you want to do it right. With thousands of storage shed designs available that include step by step instructions, there is no reason to throw up a ramshackle shed. Do it right, and you will be proud of your effort!

You really should begin by deciding where your shed will be located on your property. Make sure you find the most level spot, and that you're not overstepping the boundaries of the roads or someone else's property.

The next step should be deciding what type of foundation you will build your shed on. Concrete or wood is fine, but remember that should you ever decide to move your shed, you will have a concrete slab to deal with later. Many shed designs are now built using a wood foundation which works very well.

Once you have chosen a good location and decided what type of foundation you will use, decide what kind of shed design you want. There are many styles to peruse, from a simple square shed to much more elaborate styles. Make sure you have the perfect plan to suit your needs before you begin to build your storage shed.

Another thing to consider - how large your shed needs to be. If you are only going to store a few small items such as flower pots, garden tools, and a push mower, a small storage shed will probably do. But if you have big equipment like riding lawn mowers, four wheelers and things of that nature, you will want to build a larger shed.

Using your storage shed as a work area also needs to be considered. You will need plenty of room to move around your work bench, get to your tool location, etc. Think about these types of things when choosing your shed design and layout.

There are many other things to consider when you decide to build your own storage shed, but these tips will help you get started. With the proper planning, organization and tools, you will be able to build a shed that you will be proud to call your own for years to come! Storage shed plans are easy to come by, so do yourself a favor and do it right.

Moving Containers - Why You Will Start to Love Moving

There has never been a better time in history to move. Choices on Moving containers and moving services are at an all time high. You can find different sizes, styles and forms of moving containers and you can find moving services that range from full service to individual services. Each of these options give families the opportunity to find the right blend of containers and services to make their next move or remodeling project perfect for them.

Moving Containers

Moving containers are an area of wide interest. Ever popular is the rental moving truck or moving vans of yesteryears; however, the most widely discussed in recent years are moving pods. This new type of moving container has burst onto the scene and takes advantage of recent improvements in crate technology and provides some benefits that the other moving containers just can't provide.

1. Moving Pods

Moving Pods or portable on demand storage units are wonderful inventions because they can be housed on site and in all weather conditions. This means you can store your items in the crate at your leisure and do not need to be concerned about your belongings being damaged by the rain. Also, these creates are made level to the ground and have a solid square or rectangular shape. This means that loading the container is the easiest of all the moving containers. No need to walk up a ramp or avoid a wheel hub or duck your head under the door. Moving Pods are a blessing in this regard because they are the equivalent of filling up a suitcase. You pack and load your items and put a lock on the container. The pod is then picked up by the moving company and transported to your new location.

Another advantage of moving pods is that they are especially great for remodeling projects or selling a home. Since you will need to free up space in your house for both examples, a moving pod works great for moving these items out of the home. In addition, these materials can be kept on site rather than purchasing some off-site storage space. This means you can put the items back into the house much more quickly or you have the items ready to be shipped elsewhere. Either way, moving pods offer you ease of loading and on-site location options.

2. Rental Moving Trucks and Moving Vans

Rental Moving Trucks and Moving Vans have been the mainstay of the moving industry for many years and continue to have their value. Although they may not be as easy to load as a moving container, they do offer the benefit of leaving the driving to you. In some cases, this can be very helpful in allowing you to protect your belongings and in saving some cash. Also, rental moving trucks and moving vans will always be necessary because moving pods cannot always be used. For example, those living in the city where code restrictions and space are limited, moving pods may be not only inappropriate, but they may be illegal. In these instances, moving trucks and vans work great.

Moving Services

Once you have decided on your moving container, you will need to decide what moving services you want. As mentioned in the introduction you can get everything from full service to piece meal. Since you can already see how full service would carry everything from packing, loading, transporting and unloading, we will discuss some of the piece meal options to give you a better idea of what is available:

1. Moving Labor Services

Moving Labor Services will literally do the heavy lifting for you. Whether you need help with packing, loading, or unloading, these services can help you with your move. If you are looking to save some of your strength or time, these services can be very helpful. In addition, you can benefit from professionals loading and packing your belongings. This means added peace of mind in knowing that they are packing and loading your belongings the right way.

2. Self Pack Moving Companies

Self Pack Moving Companies are a value option. They simply offer you a moving pod to fill up by yourself. Once you have completing loading it up, you call the company and they will pick up the pod and move it to its desired location. This self service option can be a bargain for families on the budget. It allows you to save money on the cost of hiring help to load and it lets you leave the driving to the moving company. Plus, you avoid directly paying for the ever rising gas prices.

With this wide range of moving containers and moving services, you are sure to find a combination that will make your next move much easier.

Portable Self Storage - The Smart Way to Move

Using a portable storage pod to help you move is a great idea. Traditionally, moving companies were contracted to pack your furniture and boxes into boxes and crates, then packed them into a moving truck. However, with a portable storage pod, the moving company will send you a portable unit and place it on your property. You can then pack this pod whenever you have time and on your schedule. Once you finish packing, you can place a call to the mobile storage company and they will pick up the storage unit and deliver it to whichever destination you choose. The storage company can even keep the unit with them until you are able to receive and unpack it.

These mobile units are weather resistant, so you won't have to worry about your valuables being threatened by rain, wind or sunlight. Generally, you can keep a portable storage pod for however long you need it and pack it whenever you have time. That's the beauty of self storage: it is done on your schedule and is there when you need it. When you don't need the unit any longer, the company will pick it up and haul it away.

The self storage unit is loaded at ground level, meaning you don't have to climb up ramps or stairs to pack your things. The storage units are hoisted onto a delivery truck and carried away at your convenience to ensure your moving experience goes as smoothly and as easily as possible. Mobile storage companies pride themselves on being flexible to allow you use the storage pod as you see fit and for as long - or as little - as you need it. If you need more than one self-storage unit, the company can accommodate you. If you have restricted space on your property for the unit, the storage company will drop off an empty unit when it picks up the full one.

A nice thing about portable self storage is that you are only charged for what you use and how long you use it. When the unit arrives at your residence, you begin using it. When the company hauls away the empty pod, you stop using it. It can be a very smart way to move and store items without having to pay over the top, generalized fees for rental and movers.

Another benefit to using mobile storage units is that you can fill it to capacity and not have to worry about the items being damaged. They have a system that allows you to tie down furniture and other breakable items inside each unit. You can put in as much - or as little - of items as you wish. It all costs the same amount. Even if you only have a small amount of items, or lots of small boxes, using a portable storage unit can be the smartest way to move.

Using Storage Cubes to Hide Clutter in Your Home

When it comes to keeping your home out of disarray each person has a different approach to cleaning up clutter. One of the best ways to keep rooms in your home or office manageable and clutter free is the use of storage cubes. They are cubes that come in a variety of styles and sizes. Many of the materials differ as well from wood to poly vinyl as well as wire and mesh systems.

Whether your cleaning up a closet and you want to use them as a closet organizer or your straightening up your garage at home storage cubes and cabinets can utilize minimal space for maximum storage benefit. They also come in handy for college students in dorm rooms and for your children in their bedrooms. The modular systems can be modified to fit all your essentials.

A storage cube can come in an array of colors and sizes. They can be free standing on rollers or wall mountable with shelving and drawers. Many of them include 2 section double cubes, 2 tier cubes, an expandable 5 section honeycomb and even shoe cubbys to add to your existing cube selection. Basic storage cubes can serve many functions and come with wire setups or several selections of high class wood.

Wood storage cubes come in several classy selections such as cherry, honey, white, black and walnut options. A Portable Closet Unit Can Help Solve Storage Space Issues

Last year, I purchased a lovely home. It is an old, New England structure. The rooms are large and the closets were designed by someone who owned three different outfits at one time! When I was a little girl, my parents rented a house that had these same unique structures. As my feet grew and so, the size of my shoes, I had to stick my shoes under the bed because the depth of the closet was too narrow. That was all fine and good as a child, but not now. I have way too much clothes and too many pair of shoes for this arrangement to be functional. In time, I will have new closets built but right now, funds are at a premium and I need another solution, even though it will be temporary. A friend told me about Portable closet units that could be found at any hardware store or large chain stores.

It became clear to me that the only useful strategy would be to use one of the extra rooms in my house as a place to store my clothing and accessories. I took the needed measurements of the room and brought them with me to the hardware store. I found some design ideas that would incorporate Portable closet units as part of a larger plan. These larger units included drawer space, shoe racks, organizing tubs, etc... This seemed the best and most comprehensive approach to my problem.

The structural framework was made of heavy metal wire which had been coated in some form of vinyl. This resulted in a very sturdy structure and one that could bear a great deal of weight. For extra security, I decided to secure the metal structure to the wall studs. I figure that it's better to be safe than sorry. Having a Portable closet has worked out well for me. It has worked out so well that I am going to have an actual closet built around the dimensions of the one I have already set up, in the guest room. If this turns out as well as expected, then I will focus on having one built in my bedroom for next year. Sometimes, the best way to go about something is backwards!

Take the Cold With You to the Office

Consider that 21st Century computational devices require certain temperature ranges to operate at maximum capability. If one's server or mainframe is placed in a building lacking sufficient air conditioning, then overheating and costly repairs are likely to result. One might argue that installing a wall unit will solve this problem and, in certain cases, would be correct. Not every room used to house a server or mainframe possesses access to the building's exterior. In this instance, a portable unit is the best solution. Such units are mobile and can be moved from one room to another should the need arise, eliminating the cost of installing wall units.

What of buildings which do possess central air conditioning? Portable units may be a benefit even under these circumstances. If one does not wish to install a separate thermostat for a server room, a portable unit may eliminate this need, as certain models possess internal thermostats which enable them to keep their environment at a constant temperature. This presents a savings not only in the short term - multiple thermostats can be quite costly - but in the long term should one's business need to move to larger quarters, this eliminates the need of future installations.

One must wonder why anyone would do otherwise than to purchase a portable air conditioning unit if the benefits are so manifold. Nothing is as completely convenient as one wishes. Portable units often have catches for condensed moisture which must be emptied periodically. This time frame varies, but is generally five hours or more. Some units also need a place to vent heated air, such as a window or door. This means that the area outside the location of the unit will become heated even as the unit's immediate vicinity is cooled. These conditions detract from the desirability of portable air conditioning units. However, despite the issues, these units present an attractive alternative for one seeking the particular conditioning of a specific locale within a building and those wishing to avoid the cost of installing new units at every move.

When you use a self storage unit, you need to know that your valuable possessions will be safe from thieves. Security is the essential element to check when comparing storage options. Both you and the storage company have a responsibility and contribute to the overall security of the facility and your personal goods. The first three tips below are things you can do to ensure your goods are secure and the last section of the article provides a brief list of security measures you should look for in a storage facility.

Tip 1 - Stop Tailgaters

Most self storage facilities will have a keypad access system at the main gate. When you key in your unique access code, the gate opens. Once you drive through, remain just past where the gate closes and ensure the gate is closed, so that anyone following you has to access the facility in a secure way. Do not allow anyone to follow you through the gate. If the person has legitimate business in the facility, they will have the access code. If not, they should not be there.

Tip 2 - Have Personal Locks

While the storage unit will have locks, you may wish to add a personal locking device to the unit doors, such as a padlock. You can leave a duplicate key with the facility manager to provide access if you lose your padlock key, but only when you prove you are the legitimate renter of the storage unit. An additional security device or lock prevents access by thieves who can legitimately enter the storage premises (by renting a storage unit themselves).

Tip 3 - Do Not Disclose Information

Do not disclose your security access code to anyone. If you must write it down, do so in a way that no-one would know what the code was for. Keep any documentation relating to your storage unit in a safe place, such as a home safe. Do not chat idly about what valuables you have in the storage facility, especially in public, as you do not know who could be listening to your conversation.

While these three security tips are common sense, it is amazing how often people forget to take responsibility for the security of their own goods. However, the security of your goods in a self storage facility also is the responsibility of the storage company. Look for a company that offers:

key pad secure access to the fenced site;
security cameras that record on digital media;
excellent lighting in and around the facility;
security guards or staff who patrol the area; and
a duty manager who can record who accesses any unit.

These security measures will help to ensure the security of your valuable goods. Do not use a storage facility that offers no security measures and relies on your own locks as security, as this will not be a safe way to store your goods.

Storage Pod Pricing is Flexible Enough to Fit Your Budget

Once upon a time, if you wanted to move, you had to rent a truck. Renting a moving truck meant driving to the truck rental store, picking it up, bringing it home, loading it yourself, then driving it to your destination, unloading it, and then delivering it to the nearest truck rental. It's exhausting just talking about it.

Once upon another time, if you wanted to store a few things, you had to rent a storage unit. Renting a storage unit meant loading your stuff into a truck (either your own or a rented truck), driving it to the storage facility, and then unloading it. It's enough to make you want to leave your stuff by the road for the garbage truck.

However, with the invention of storage pods, all of these storage and moving headaches have been made much simpler. These brilliant little inventions make storing easier because the storage company delivers the container to your home, you load your things, then they come and get it. They store it for you until you need your things again.

Just imagine what storage pods have done for moving. When you use storage pods to move, you load the pod, and then the storage company picks up the container and delivers it to your new home. Most of the time, it's waiting for you when you get there. How cool is that?

Because storage pods are a more advanced way to store and move your belongings, storage pod pricing is a little different than traditional methods as well. In a nutshell, the cost of your storage pod will be determined by the size and location of your container as well as how long you'll be using your pod.

Storage pods come in a variety of sizes and dimensions to suit the needs of every pod user. In fact, there aren't very many items that you can't store in a pod. However, smaller pods cost less than bigger pods. Therefore, people with more stuff will invest more in their storage pod system. But traditional storage units are priced the same way. You can also rent multiple storage pods of need be.

Location is another factor in storage pod pricing. Storage pods across the company are priced differently for various reasons. If you're using a storage pod to move, the cost will also be determined by how far that pod will need to travel to reach your new home. If it's just around the block, it will cost less than moving coast to coast. To get an idea of storage pod pricing in your area, go to your storage pod rental company of choice and type in your zip code to get a quote.

Duration is also an element of storage pod pricing. Renting a storage pod for a few months will cost less than renting for a few years. However, that's a factor when pricing the rental of pretty much anything. Even video rental fees cost more if you keep it for an extra week.

Storage pod pricing is determined by three main factors: size or quantity, location, and duration. These three factors allow you to mix and match the terms of your storage pod rental to fit your budget. You will love the convenience, ease, and affordability of storage pods.

Pods Storage - Discover How You Can Benefit

When looking at pods storage as an option for your next move or for your next remodeling project, you should keep several things in mind. To help make this process easier, we have put together a list of questions you should consider before renting pods storage:

1. Determine how long you will need storage space?

Some moving pods companies cater more towards offering a moving pod as true storage space for several months up to a few years. These can operate by either leaving the storage pod at your home or by moving it to one of their storage facilities when you are done loading it up. Other companies cater their pods specifically towards moves. These are more of the design that you load up your belongings into the moving pod and they will come by and transport it to the new location. In addition, there are some companies that cater to both niches. For this reason, it pays to pick a moving pods company that matches your needs.

2. How durable will the pods storage space need to be?

Although most storage pods will generally stand up to most elements, some storage pods are made better than others. If you are planning on using your moving as storage space during a time in the year where you can expect extreme weather, you should opt for only the best build storage pods to reduce risk of damage. Also, because storage pods will operate better at times when weather conditions aren't extreme, the best times to rent them will most likely be in the spring and fall rather than the summer or winter where the extreme temperatures really kick in.

3. How much space will you need for storage?

Storage space varies somewhat among the different moving pods companies. However, all will generally have a height of 6 to 7 feet tall. Therefore, the height of the storage pods should never be an issue. However, you will have to make an estimation of how many storage pods you will need. To help you with this determination, we would ask that you factor in some extra free space of about 10 to 15% in each storage pod. This will ensure you are able to put in any forgotten items and also keep you from underestimating the space you will need.

4. Should you hire additional labor to help with the loading and unloading?

Although pods storage are the easiest moving containers for loading on the market, many people find value in hiring additional people to help with their loading and unloading. Many companies offer these services at reasonable rates and they can help reduce the risk of personal injury and damages to your belongings.

By keeping all these tips in mind, you should be better able to find pods storage space which will meet your needs. With just a little bit of focused research, you will be able to rest easy knowing you may the right decision.

3 Mistakes People Make When Using Garage Storage Shelves

People always seem to make mistakes, even with something as simple as garage storage shelves. They don't plan ahead, they forget to measure, and never seem to buy the right materials for the job at hand. After you read this article, you should be able to avoid these mistakes, and have your shelves up with ease.

Don't plan ahead:

Basically, you just decided, that one day, you want to put up a bunch of storage for your garage. So you go out buy some materials, and start building.

What is wrong with that picture? Well, for one, you missed a step. You forgot to plan ahead. You didn't organize all your stuff into sections, or decide where everything is going to go ahead of time, and make sure it can even go there.

Always plan ahead when doing a project of this size, otherwise you will be caught with no where to go, and just a big pile of mess.

Buy the wrong kind of shelving:

If you are building it yourself, or even buying some units already made, you have got to make sure these are sturdy enough to hold the objects you intend to put on them.

Not only that, but if they are board shelving, you need to make sure the brace you put up to hold them in place is properly secure, and is also strong enough for the weight you plan on putting on it.

If not, then everything is literally going to come crashing down.

Measure everything wrong:

So you get out your measuring tape, and start measuring your walls, and spaces that you are going to put the shelves up.

Well, most people don't section off the shelves, they make 1 big long one, and thing that will be ok. What usually will happen, is to much weight is put on it, and it collapses.

What you should do, is measure sections, and stagger the shelves. The short the length of wood, the stronger the shelf will be.

Another good thing to do is to measure the items that you plan on putting up there, weighing them too if you can, this will give you a better idea of the distance you should have your shelves apart, so things can fit on them, and under them as well.

Now that you have read this article, and seen the 3 mistakes that people make when putting up garage storage shelves, you won't be making those same mistakes. Plan as much ahead as you can, measure everything, even twice. And always make sure you buy the best quality materials you can, don't cheap out, it could be dangerous. And in no time at all, you should have your very own, very organized garage.

Choosing the Best Data Storage Solution

Data management and protection is key to your business success, whether it involves your customer database, financial reports, inventory, trending analysis or company expansion plans. After all the effort to collect your information, insufficient or unsuitable storage can break your forward momentum and impede your business growth.

How and where you store your data can also give you some peace of mind. Aside from the basic CD , DVD or even tape-drives , currently there are two ways to do this:

1. At-hand storage: fixed/internal (inside your computer) or portable (external hard-drives)
2. On-line: off-site storage by another party

At-hand Storage

Magnetic hard-drive disks (HDD) have been the computing standard since the 1950's when it comes to data storage, and it was only in the past few years that solid state drives (SSD) were introduced to the general public. While you already know about HDD's, SSD's are basically very high-capacity flash drives, giant cousins to the ubiquitous little thumb-sized widgets you see dangling from lanyards or keychains.

With no moving parts, SSD's:

- come with faster data access
- have more protection against vibrations, temperature extremes and dust than HDD's.
- are lighter (and currently more expensive) than HDD's, and are primarily designed for portability, speed and lap-top twinning.

The latest portable hard drives, whether HDD , SSD or a hybrid of the two, basically offer:

- private protection: they can store all your data on the unit itself and not on the PC you're currently using, using strong file encryption.
- File-synching from your PC, with just a push of a button
- USB 2.0 plug and play capabilities
- Some can even reboot, recover and rollback you PC from system failure or viruses/spyware damage, as long as you've backed it up.

Online storage

Online storage means your data is stored in a second-party's designated space. While you should always keep your current, frequently used or updated information backed up and at hand, and archive your older, seldom used but still valuable files for reference purposes, online storage can provide good secondary protection in case your primary back-ups are damaged.

Most online storage or backup services have their own client software that allows you to use their services as if they were just extensions of your desktop, allowing drag-and-drop execution. Usually they offer the same features, letting you select certain files to back-up or schedule a full backup in one of two ways:

- differential (the services backs your data up in real-time)
- incremental (backing up an open file as you change it.)

You can also share files on-line, letting selected people access designated files on the site's server. This is a good substitute to emailing large attachments, since different email services have different attachment limits and mailbox sizes. Business owners can share their documents with remote users as needed.

Many storage serves also use one kind of encryption when you upload or download your files, and another kind of encryption to shield your data on their servers. For additional protection, they can also keep backup copies of your files in physically secure locations off-site.

Online storage comes in two flavors: free or paid. Some companies offer free storage up to a certain limit, and you start paying once you go over it. Other companies have "pay-per-use" schemes where you only pay for the storage you use.

Different companies also offer varying back-up services. There are dozens of them out there. For starters, check out Data Deposit Box, Xdrive, Humyo or Mozy, among others.

A little tip on free storage:

If you use Mozilla Firefox and have a Gmail account, which has about a 2 GB of space, a simple add-on called Gmail File Space - gspace 0.2 can convert your Gmail into an online storage solution, letting you send files from your computer to your Gmail account. This add-on lets you bypass the 10 MB limit that Gmail places on email attachments. Caution: Don't upload more than 2 GB worth of data in a day, or you might find that your account disabled temporarily.

Whether free or not, bear in mind the following:

Consider carefully what kind of data you store on-line. The service may be encrypted, fire-walled, and the data stored in a nuclear bunker, but the employees handling everything else on the back-end may be able to access your files. Remember the issue with Pres. Obama's confidential passport information being accessed (this was back when he was still a candidate)? If your business depends on proprietary designs, top-secret recipes or slit-throat-before-reading formulas, think very hard about where you put it and who can access it.

Compatibility - Data-storage companies with their own client software often design them with Windows in mind. Check the fine print.

Automation saves you from doing it yourself. The best services offer you an array of choices on how and when you back up. Full backup, incremental, daily, at night when it's off-peak, only when you want to or at a scheduled time, it's your choice.

Internet connection speed determines how fast your backup goes. From dial-ups to DSL to broadband to T1's, the speed determines the time spent on file uploading.

Redundancy. Always have a back-up, somewhere you can get to quickly. Hardware failure. Software corruption. Acts of God. Hackers. Viruses and malware. Act of kids. Catastrophic data loss. Acts of pets. As in investing, diversify. Protect your critical data.

Choosing the best fit

· Bigger isn't always better.

Think of your current and future needs. Are you expanding anytime soon? Would you need a bigger, integrated database which would require more disk space, or are you just starting out, testing the waters with a little moonlighting on the side?

Waiting a few months for prices to fall as newer hardware comes out the market is okay if your business isn't particularly time-sensitive, especially as the manufacturers keep refining the kinks out and add more features. You can also try out the free online services to see which one suits your needs best if you don't want to commit to their paid service.

· Consider your budget.

The biggest drive with bells and whistles on top isn't going to cut it if you don't maximize its use, or actually need that much space. Save your money for more crucial aspects of your business. Someone who goes online once or thrice a week to check his eBay account has different requirements from a power-seller running a international online store.

· Location is key.

Alright. All your data is backed up the wazoo. Cool. Except it's in the same computer, maybe on a separate hard-drive, or on an external HD in the same physical location. Or maybe on DVD carrels in the closet.

Thieves can break in. Accidents happen. Lightning strikes, a fire, those nasty mutant ants that keep popping up and nesting in your PC casing ...and with the weather as unpredictably fierce as it is nowadays, you may not be able to afford that anymore. Flash floods aren't good for basement offices. And file retrieval services can be lethally expensive for your small business.

Do you travel a lot? The smaller portables make more sense. Lighter and less strain on your shoulders when you pack it in your laptop bag. Online storage lets you access you files from any computer with an internet connection.

Maybe you just need to archive older data off your PC. A desktop drive is an external that you just attach for back up. It sits right on your desktop with your monitor and doesn't take up as much space as a PC case. Some of the smaller models are about as big as a paperback novel standing upright. Or maybe a smallish binder.

Short-term, think of your budget and actual requirements. Long term: think of your possible expansion needs, and system upgradeability. Test and try out various combinations to find the best balance of functionality and flexibility that fit your needs. But either way, and in any case, back it up.

Buildings From a Kit - Metal, Vinyl, and Wood Prefab Buildings

On my daily commute, I pass a new construction project that I find very intriguing. It's a large industrial building that's being built from a prefabricated metal kit. The construction process has been fast and smooth, and the structure has risen rather grandly from the bare land. A little bit of investigating led me to the discovery that these types of metal kit buildings are not only common, but very cost effective. In fact, you can take full advantage the same technology for your own backyard storage shed.

Often made of surplus steel to help keep the cost down, these small prefab outdoor structures come complete with all you need for a self build project, making them ideal for the DIY type handyman. Usually built by an American manufacturing company like US Steel, General Steel, Mueller, or Butler, these residential storage buildings can be made of vinyl, metal, or wood. A manufacturing hotbed for these types of portable storage is the Dallas, Texas area.

Varying in style from rustic to modern, Amish to contemporary, you can find one to match virtually any architectural style, and finding one to complement your home or barn should be simple. Colors vary as well, and I have seen these kits in many shades of green, brown, gray, tan, and red.

A couple of important hints to follow... make sure you follow all of your town's building codes, especially relating to allowed setbacks. Build one of these storage buildings too close to a property line, power line, or existing structure and you'll just wind up having to tear it down. Ouch! Also, make sure you know exactly what you're doing before you begin. If not, you should hire a professional to handle the installation for you.

If you find yourself in need of additional space for your lawn and garden equipment, tools, or whatever, a metal kit building may be just what you need.

Amish Sheds - As High As High Quality Can Get

When you think of storage units in this day and age, you probably think about those small metal sheds that took away from the scenery. You may not believe this, but there are ones out there that are very stylish. In fact, many individuals are getting them custom made in order to match their house. That's right, you could have a shed that looks like your miniature house. What exactly would you want one of these for? Well, there are tons of reasons why one would want to have a storage unit in their yard. Is your home starting to feel cramped as you are running out of storage space? What about your yard? Are you running out of places to store your lawn equipment? If so, then we highly recommend you looking into Amish sheds.

Once you get one of these units in your yard, you will find a lot more space in your living room and yard.

Why should you choose something that the Amish made? Well, we will as you this: Why wouldn't you want to choose something they made? These individuals are known for putting a lot of work into what they do.

When you get one of these units, you can expect nothing more than high quality work. We guarantee you this storage unit will last you longer than any of the other ones you could choose.

How do the Amish make these sheds when they have a simple life that does not include electricity? You see, just because they do not tap into the grid of electricity we use does not mean they are not able to use power tools. Simply put, they use generators in order to power their equipment.

Some of the individuals that work in these shops may not be Amish at all. However, many of them are related to one another or have came from the same district.

Many individuals believe that they could build the storage themselves, but why would you want to? You can just purchase one or pay someone to do it, instead of doing it yourself. Besides, this will save you from the trouble of having to do it yourself.

Tips For Hiring Moving Storage Units

Moving storage units are the latest entrant into the storage industry. These units represent a convergence of storage and logistics services. Unlike in the case of traditional self storage units, where one has to take one's belongings to the unit, here store units are sent to the customer's house. The customer can store the items in the unit and keep it anywhere he or she likes - in the backyard itself, in the storehouse, or in a different location as specified by the customer. In short, these are mobile or portable store units available for hire.

In many aspects, moving storage units are similar to traditional units. For example, storehouse owners do not allow explosives or firearms to be stored in the units; or some of these units are climate controlled, and temperature sensitive items like wines can be stored in them. However, portability of the units is a crucial factor. The following are some tips for selecting and using moving storage units.

Mobile Storage versus Self Storage

Many people are confused whether to opt for a mobile store unit or a self storage unit. Mobile store units can be costlier than self storage units - though not by much. However, these units provide more comfort and convenience to the customers. One does not have to pack all the items, take it to the store units, and put all the items again in to store room. One can save one or two rounds of packing and unpacking by hiring a portable store unit.

This is not to suggest that moving storage units are more advantageous than the conventional self storage units. Both have their own advantages. Ultimately the decision depends on the storing requirements of the customer, items to be stored, likely duration of storage, and financial capacity of the customer.

For Relocation Purposes

One particular area where mobile store units are undoubtedly better than conventional store units is relocation. As the business of mobile units offers a service that is both storing and moving, it provides a convenient and flexible option for people who are planning to relocate. They can hire a unit, keep their belongings in the unit, requests the store manager to keep the unit in a safe place, and set off to the new location with minimal luggage. This allows them to find a new house conveniently in the new place.

The Rent Structure of Moving Storage Units

In the case of mobile store units, there are three kinds of rents, as opposed to the only one kind of rent in the case of conventional store units. The first is the delivery fee when the workers of the storehouse deliver the empty unit or units at the customer's house. The second is the normal rent, and the third is the delivery fee at destination. The third one is not applicable if the customer keeps the unit at his or her own house.

How to Find a Good Portable Storage Unit

Not all storage businesses provide moving storage units. The best way to find organizations that provide this service is to check the internet. There are some online directories exclusively for mobile store units that provide location-specific details of such units.

How to Build a Portable Garage

Portable garages have rapidly become a popular sight along the American landscape. After all, these garages can provide long lasting durability at an extremely economical price. One of the most advantageous benefits in addition to the value and portability is the ease of construction. Most storage garages require heavy construction equipment and tools in addition to a vast knowledge of construction techniques.

A portable garage can be constructed with (2) requirements: an ability to follow directions and possessing some common household tools. Typical tools needed include: stepladders, sockets, wrenches, mallets, drill, and rope. It is also important to have physically capable adults. Larger buildings may require up to (3) capable adults.

The first step is to prepare the site. It is imperative that the site be somewhat level. Concrete and asphalt surfaces are obviously ideal, however, dirt and gravel are sufficient if the mounting surface meets manufacturer requirements. Most manufacturers require that the building location be "squared" and staked.

The second step in construction is to assemble the frame. The tools mentioned above are typically required. Most garage frames are manufactured of structural steel swaged tubing which are fastened using manufacturer supplied bolts. It is important to follow the manufacturer directions on bolt assembly as bolts can cause damage to the cover if not properly oriented. Struts and purlins are also part of the frame as they provide rigidity.

The third step is to install the end panels and cover. Portable garage end panels are typically the same material as the covers. It is imperative that the end panels are installed first in order to prevent moisture from entering the shelter. After installing the end panels, the cover is placed over the top of the portable garage. Depending on the size of the shelter, ropes may be required to pull the cover over the top of the structure. Great care must the taken not to damage the fabric.

The fourth step is the install the anchors. Some manufacturer may require that the anchors be installed prior to the cover. If the structure is being mounted to concrete, wood, or asphalt, mounting plates should be utilized. If placed on dirt, sand, or gravel, auger anchors should be used (mounting plates can be used to level the structure also). Proper anchoring is a must to prevent damage to the portable garage and it's contents.

Although this article is not a substitute for the manufacturer's installation instructions, it provides a basis for what to expect. Again, following the instructions is imperative. Most manufacturers void warranties if the proper installation directions and guidelines are not followed.

A can provide years of protection at an economical price. Building a portable garage can be done quickly and properly with the proper tools and ability to follow instructions.

Portable Storage Units - Making Your Move Even Simpler

One of the most common problems experienced by people with frequent transfers or job shifts is dealing with the moving of their belongings. A similar problem is encountered by businessmen when they need to arrange shipment of goods from one place to another. Often, these people resort to options such as hiring trucks or arranging air cargo. Apart from being expensive, both these alternatives are in never flexible and can even result in damage due to mishandling of goods. One useful and economical way to get rid of these problems is by using portable storage units, commonly referred to as shipping PODS (portable on demand storage).

Understanding Portable Storage Units

In simple terms, these moving and storage pods can be described as small, box-type wooden enclosures or containers that are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs. These containers are usually the size of a small truck that can used for transporting a variety of items including perishable goods, fragile materials and items that need to be stored and shipped only under controlled environmental conditions like temperature and humidity. So as to understand these shipping pods in a better sense, one must be aware of the advantages offered by these mobile storage and shipping units.

1. Flexibility - With portable storage units, you can pack, unpack load and unload your items at your own pace depending on your comfort and available time, something that is not at all possible when you hire a truck for transportation.

2. Safety - These shopping pods minimize the chances of mishandling and damage to your valuables. You know which one is of prime importance to you and the way it should be packed.

3. Economical - One can easily save hundreds of dollars with these moving and storage pods. When you are hiring for a truck, you need to also pay for the packing, loading, unloading and unpacking. With a portable storage unit, you can save the entire money you pay for the manpower. Also, moving pod rental rates are very much inexpensive. These prices tend to vary from one company to another. So as to remain competitive in the market and attract customers, some companies even provide attractive offers and discounts. Interestingly, there are certain criteria that determine moving pod rental rates. These include customer's geographical location, size of the truck, how long do you need the container and your shipping destination. Moving pod rental rates are also dependent on whether the company has to arrange for the shipment of the container or you intend to transport it yourself.

4. Reduce Stress - Transportation or shipment of belongings is often a tiring and cumbersome job that can lead to extreme physical and mental stress. With portable storage units, this stress can be reduced to significant levels. Rather than worrying about loading and unloading of goods, you can focus your attention on making your family comfortable in their new surroundings.

By keeping this information in mind, you should be able to begin to see why portable storage units are very effective.
